The Big 10 at the Big 10 is a collective group of Black students graduating from the Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) master’s program at Indiana University, a Big 10 institution.

The IU HESA class of 2018 contains the largest number of Black students in the program's history. In May 2018, the entire Big 10 will be graduating from the program.

Historically, academia has excluded and oppressed Black students. Attempting to learn and thrive in higher education despite all that society has stacked against them leads many Black students to experience intellectual fatigue, stress, and trauma. These issues remain today, yet still we rise.

The Big 10 is committed to using their experiences to continue to do the work necessary to dismantle the injustices present in post-secondary education. We strive to be the change agents that help bring forward narratives that are reflective of underrepresented students as we help craft the future of our field.

The purpose of this website is to highlight the backgrounds and skills of each member of the Big 10 at the Big 10 while providing visitors an opportunity to better understand our passions for the fields of higher education, student affairs, and beyond.
