Kaamil Al-Hassan is a proud native of Oakland, CA and will be graduating in May of 2018 from Indiana University Bloomington's Higher Education and Student Affairs Master's program.  Her graduate assistantship is in Residential Programs and Services (RPS) coordinating late night programming in the residence halls.  Kaamil earned her Bachelor's of Arts degree in Sociology from California State University, Sacramento in Fall 2013.  Following her undergraduate education, which included extensive leadership involvement, she worked full-time at California State University, Sacramento in the Vice President for Student Affairs office, the Registrar's office, and two years in the Office of Admissions as an Admissions and Outreach Counselor.  She is passionate about social justice advocacy, retention for underrepresented students, identity development, and supporting students' holistic wellness and development as they navigate through higher education. Following graduation, Kaamil is excited to return to a large urban city environment and empower first-generation and/or low-income students from marginalized backgrounds. During her IU experience, She has thoroughly enjoyed working with RPS, IU Money Smarts, & the Hudson & Holland Scholars Program.  Ms. Al-Hassan is an advocate for collectivism along with radical self-care and enjoys all things related to the arts, culture, traveling, and meditation.
