My name is Sydney Marie Howell. I am a native of Columbus, Ohio. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Spanish from Bowling Green State University in 2016. My student affairs practice is rooted in my passion for helping and serving others. I entered higher education as a result of having an extremely positive undergraduate experience, and wanting to create positive experiences for future college students. Upon reflection, I know that I had a positive college experience because of the support and community that I found. I am committed to helping the next generation of students succeed just as the student affairs professionals that I had in my life helped me. I see myself working in multiple functional areas during my career trajectory, but am mostly interested in Career Services and Leadership Development. My time at Indiana University has provided me with a variety of experiences that have prepared me to enter the field as a competent professional. I have worked in several offices, and have served both undergraduate students and medical students as a student affairs professional. Through these experiences, I have had the opportunity to sharpen my research, advising, program management, and facilitation skills.
